7 Things to Include When Making Character Sheets

I’ve had this story idea in my mind for the beginning of a series for a year now. The problem though was I didn’t know enough about my main character. I’ve heard of authors making what they refer to as character sheets, and thought I would try it out.

There’s different ways of doing this, but I’ve found seven things that I included in mine that allowed me to not only get to know my character, but get a clear idea of what is going to happen to her in this story, and how the story will end.

First Section: Physical Attributes

What does your character look like? This is important so that you can picture your character as they move through each scene. What they look like can play a large part in how they move and how others respond to them. For example, if they are overweight, they will move slower than average or lose their breath easier. They might sweat more than your average person. People around them judge them based on their weight and treat them differently.

Second section: Miscellaneous Information

I included this because my story is the first in a series, and down the road if I need to remember if I mentioned what kind of car my character drove, or where they were born and raised, that information will be…
