Sounds like a joke, right?

Wrong.

When you live out in the country there are some things you have to get used to:

  1. When driving, you have to constantly be aware of what is happening on the side of the road. Today I went to go pick up my son from a friend’s house but it took me twice as long to get there. First, I drove around a corner and had to slam on my brakes when a deer darted across the street. Then, a mile later, when my heart had finally returned to a normal steady heartbeat, two turkeys flew directly into the road and stopped. Once again, my tires screeched while I tried to keep the car on the road. I swear they looked at me with daggers in their little beady eyes. Finally they meandered off. I thought I was in the clear but no… In between two corn fields a mangy dog decided to walk down the middle of the street. When I slowed down so I could move over to the side, this stray dog stood and stared at me as it stood in front of my car. I honked, it stared. Then it finally started moving…right under my car. I honked some more. After what seemed like forever I got out of my car and bent down to look at it. I must have scared it because it ran off into the corn.
  2. Get used to random covered wagon parades. The first time it happened we were cracking up. You could hear the clip clopping from…
