Another Food Shortage

Our food system is broken, that is a fact. It is really easy to not think about it though during good times. It is through times of uncertainty that it really hits home.

Back when COVID-19 first shut down the country, shelves were bare. Trying to find a package of chicken breasts, a loaf of bread, or canned vegetables were near impossible.

Well, that time is slowly approaching again.

With the surge of positive cases along with a messed up election, people are running scared. When that happens, they hit panic mode and stock up for the ‘just in case’.

Don’t get me wrong, that’s not necessarily a bad thing, but there are so many different things that you can do to avoid this to begin with.

Stock The Pantry

For the past twenty years, I have kept two months worth of dried food goods in my pantry. Even if we had no meat or no fresh food, we would not starve.

It’s not hard to do this either. Every time I go to the grocery store, I pick one item to grab an extra of. Planning on getting spaghetti noodles? Grab two instead of just one. Need some rice? Instead of grabbing a one pound bag, get a five pound bag.

By doing this, over several months you will notice a big difference.
