Bringing Down Our Grocery Bill
Three years ago, my husband and I kind of saw the writing on the wall. Things here in the United States had been going smooth for the most part. But the election of 2020 loomed in front of us.
The truth was, it didn’t really matter who won it. The two of us worried that no matter what the results were, there was going to be a shift in peace. When that happened, we wanted to live somewhere away from any city.
We were able to find a place for super cheap on five acres. I imagined having a huge garden, some happy chickens and a few fruit trees. Over the last three years we have been working hard to make that happen, and it’s finally paying off.
Going to the grocery store right now is rough. Even though we are some of the lucky ones who don’t have to seriously watch our pennies, it still sucks to know that you are over-paying for a product. It kills my frugal side every time I do.
But, last night’s dinner?
I have to say I’m very proud of it.
We had roasted quail, deviled eggs, and garlic pasta. It was delicious!
The great thing was, all of it cost us about four dollars.
When you work so hard at something and you have to be patient to see results, it can be discouraging.
