My dream of owning acreage has come true. Five acres of serenity for us to shape it how ever we want.

We have big dreams that will take years to come to fruition, but I’m giddy with excitement.

I’ve done a ton of research, watched hour after hour of videos. I’ve created numerous lists of what I want, what my goals are, what my needs are etc. Within twenty-four hours of buying our property, my husband bought our first fruit tree.

Fruit trees take years to mature and bear fruit, and knowing this ahead of time let us be prepared to make that one of our first purchases. Our small lemon tree was planted with care, and every day we check it. Just this past week, the first buds appeared.

Then, in November, on one of our many trips to Home Depot, we took a detour back into the garden center. We must have spent an hour going back and forth between what our next tree would be. We already had lemon, so should a lime follow?

Nope. Red Navel Orange.

We promptly went home and dug a hole and planted it.

That won’t be the end of our fruit tree purchases, but it’s a start.
