Creating Family Time
Family time isn’t something that just happens. It is something that has to be created.
Life is busy and hectic. These days distractions are just a click of a button away, and it is up to you, the parent or the spouse, or the adult child to create moments of togetherness. It doesn’t take much.
Here’s an example:
For the first time in years, we have both boys living at home with us. Living in a small house being renovated with only one bathroom is chaotic to say the least, but the positive aspects outweigh the negative.
Our internet sucks.
Living out in the middle of nowhere means sacrificing things such as cell phone reception and high speed internet.
But, I’m okay with that. Why? Because it forces my family to unplug for a while and spend time together.
When my older son came home for the first time last week and saw the fire pit in the back yard, he immediately suggested we light it up and make some s’mores.
The closest grocery store is half an hour away, so it’s not just a quick trip. The cost of going to the grocery store is almost $5.00 in gas. With him behind the wheel, we drove to the store and went shopping.
