Day 2: Hurricane Helene Moves On
Can we salvage our hurricane trip to St. Augustine, Fl?
When I booked this vacation, I focused on pure relaxation. Our hotel, La Fiesta Ocean Inn and Suites, is right on the beach. The rooms and bathrooms are a bit on the small side, but I don’t have to put shoes on to walk to the beach. There’s also a bunch of restaurants within walking distance.
The day started off with breakfast being delivered to our room. The options you could choose from were not huge, but it’s also nice to not have to go anywhere.
Hurricane Helene had made landfall during the night. Power flickered a couple of times and we watched the palm trees spin their tops in circles.
Now, for the most part the bad weather has moved on. There was still a bit of wind and the sun hid behind some clouds, but we did not let that deter us. We looked up things to do and chose to check out the St. Augustine lighthouse.
