Different Ways to Clear Your Mind
There are times in your life when you need a break. You need to step back from whatever chaos is going on around you, and need to clear your mind, calm your emotions.
When I was a teenager, there were times that my parents drove me crazy, or I was dealing with relationship issues. I lived in a small town in the mountains. I would jump on my bicycle and ride as fast as I could.
There was one street in particular that took me high into the mountains. I came upon it by complete accident. You see, when I would get on my bike, my eyes would be filled with tears (usually) and I would do nothing other than focus on pedaling as hard as I could.
The incline was steep, and after the first uphill mile, my legs would be burning. My focus would then turn to making it a little further. That first time, when my legs finally turned to jelly, I turned down into a dead end road. I got off my bike and climbed up on a boulder.
The spot was perfect. Through a space in the trees I stared down at the crystal blue waters of Lake Tahoe. The exercise exhausted me, and the anger I had when I left finally drained out. By the time my breathing was back to normal, I was calm and relaxed.
As I grew older and moved out of the mountains, I found other ways to get away from it all and clear my mind. One of my favorite…
