Don’t Lose Sight Of Your Dream

As the months start to trickle by, it’s important to take the time to remember what it is you dream of.

We all have dreams. Some are dreaming about the perfect job, or starting their own business. Some dream about becoming a millionaire. Whatever the dream is, unless you keep it at the forefront of your mind, you will lose your motivation to reach it.

My personal dream is to buy some land. At least two acres. Enough for a large garden, fruit trees, and a chicken coop.

One of my tricks to remember what it is I’m reaching for is my ceramic chicken sitting on the island in my kitchen. It’s not the cutest thing. My husband rolls his eyes at it and calls it a dust catcher.

But, every time I see that chicken it reminds me why I am doing what I am doing.

I finally found a full-time job.

I don’t want a full-time job, but in order to save money for the land, a full-time job is necessary. As I sit here dreading the long hours that I will be working during the next month (full time job plus part time job) I am filled with dread. That chicken makes the dread seem worthwhile.

One of my year long goals is to be published.

I have a deadline coming up in four days. I’ve been procrastinating on writing this story, so it is important for me to remember why I agreed to write this story. It will be one goal that I can check off my bucket list.

So, what is the dream that you’re chasing, and what do you do in order to keep yourself motivated to continue working hard to reach it? There are some days that I struggle, despite my ceramic chicken. I’d love to have some more inspiration to pull from.
