Eggs In One Basket?
Finding Different Sources of Income
I’ve always been jealous of people who have always known what they want to do, and the people who work at a job that they enjoy.
I, like a lot of other people, work at a job that I do not enjoy. Not only do I not like what I do, but I wake up in the morning dreading the thought of even getting ready to head into work.
The problem is I’m stuck.
I am completely dependent on the income that comes from my job. Without it, there would be no food on the table. Bills need to be paid, and unfortunately as an adult, I have to do what it takes in order to pay those bills.
As part of a management team, I’ve had to have some hard discussions with unhappy employees. When it has gotten to the point where they do more damage than good because of their attitude, I remind them of one thing:
“We are not holding you prisoner here. It is your choice to continue working here. The door is not barred and at any time you choose, you can decide to use it. If you are unhappy, then perhaps this is not the job for you.”
I am a firm believer that if you are stuck, only you can get yourself out. There arises problem number two. If I were to choose to leave my job, I would have to find a similar position at a different company…
