Something hit me the other day, and I don’t know why it suddenly hit me so hard.

You see, I work with this sweet girl. She is one of those people who would bend over backwards for anyone who needed it and you can’t help but smile when you are around her.

We were having a conversation during a lull in customers and one of our coworkers invited her to join them out on the town. She declined. She gets anxiety in big crowds, and although wanted to join her, was too fearful of doing so.

She was invited to instead go tubing. She has a fear of water, and declined that invitation as well. This coworker tried one more time and asked her to join her at a small cafe with just a couple of friends for a drink one night.

She’s scared to drive at night, but would try to see if she could get a ride.

I sat back, listening… watching…

It is hard to see someone who has so many phobias and anxiety miss out on so much of life. I saw a light spark in her eyes at the invitation, and her head lower when she declined. She wants to be included, yet knows she is the one holding herself back.

She talked about her travels, and her photography. She talked about once upon a time how she thought about perhaps starting a travel blog.
