Facing Failure
It’s all about how you respond.
Think about this.
A family of four took a road trip to Grandma’s house in the mountains for the winter holiday. When they arrived, Grandma asked the two teenagers who sat in the backseat how the drive was.
One of the girls rolled her eyes and said, “Boring. There was nothing to look at besides a gazillion trees.”
The other girl smiled. “It was amazing. The sun came up and the light shimmered on the top of the lake. Oh, and a hawk flew out of the tree and soared in a circle. I swear it followed our car for a while.”
Two people who drove in the same car on the trip had completely different perspectives on what the drive was like. One took the time to look around and see the positive out of the situation while the other sat and sulked, bored of looking at trees.
The same can be said when it comes to facing failure.
The first week of February brought me my first real failure of the year. I was pissed at myself that I did not succeed and for just a slight moment thought about just ditching my goals.
But I thought about this story, and knew that all I really needed to do was change my perspective.
