One Way To Beat Inflation

I have a two-year plan to quit my job and it was going great until this past six months or so. It seems like every time I turn around, items are costing more and more. Unfortunately, that leaves less left over at the end of the month to put into savings.
My plan to counter-balance this is to start up a few side hustles.
One of those side hustles will be our laser/coaster business. My husband and I plan on setting up a table in front of a local store at the end of the month. It will cost us only $10 so as long as we sell one item, that will cover the cost.
Part of the issue comes from having to build up inventory in such a short amount of time, and covering the costs of materials until we start getting some income rolling in.
I think it has great potential as far as making money goes. So far, we’ve probably spent about $1,000 on the laser and materials. Now it’s just a matter of setting up a website, advertising, and actually getting out there and selling.
As of today, we could show up with approximately $300 worth of product if everything sold. This isn’t a get-rich quick scheme, but if we could start making some money from it in the next year, that would be amazing.
We don’t want to lock into one specific product, although coasters will be our main one. We are also making tumblers, magnets, wall art, and vinyl designs for car windows.
I’m being pushed out of my comfort zone here, but it’s exciting to try new things. The failures are there, and sometimes it’s frustrating watching the money we’ve spent on supplies go to waste, but we are learning so much that hopefully in the next few months we will have things dialed down and not have as many failures.
My hope for our first sale is to make enough to buy more supplies and cover a tank of gas. I’d call that a huge success. Next month? I’d like to double that. We only have a few more months where weather will cooperate and it won’t be cold outside. After that, we will have to focus on marketing through the website and actually shipping products out.
