Fleeting Friendships
Have you ever had a friend that you thought would be your ‘ride or die’ until the end, and suddenly that friend was “poof” gone?
It’s happened to me several times.
I’ve always said that friendship is a two-way street, and I firmly believe that. I also believe that everything happens for a reason.
Years ago I had a friend group that I met through work. For years the three of us did everything together. Each of us went through some seriously hard times but we held each other up.
Then I moved. The hard times did not stop for any of us, but I found myself reaching out to one of them only to be met with silence.
It hurt. It devastated me. I went through so many different emotions. Had I done something wrong? Said something wrong? Was it a matter of being out of sight, out of mind?
For weeks I continued to try to call and text. Finally, I decided for my own emotional well-being, I needed to stop. I deleted her contact out of my phone, blocked her on all social media. It was too hard to see her name or face.
I didn’t understand why a friendship that was so strong disappeared in the blink of an eye.
