Getting Back Into Posting Fiction
Besides my actual writing projects that I have going on, the only other thing I write are my Medium articles.
It got me thinking. Although my fiction posts seem to get less traction than my nonfiction, at this point on Medium, my numbers are so low it really doesn’t matter any more.
So I’m diving back into fiction. Every single day for the rest of September, I will pull up a prompt and do a fifteen minute sprint on it. Usually, by the end of that I will know if I like it and will turn it into a flash piece or short story, or if I will ditch it and move on.
One of the projects I currently have in my plans is to put together an anthology. I’ve gone back through my Medium posts, and years ago I wrote much more fiction. Almost all of them were from prompts. There are twenty stories that will work perfect together in one book.
I want to kind of replicate that.
So, much like Story A Day in May, I will spend the rest of September working on short stories along with the three main projects. It seems like a lot, but it really isn’t. I love diving into a new world, a new story, new characters.
So, for anyone reading this (I know it will only be a few), If you leave me one noun, and a name (possibly yours), I will use it as my daily prompt. Might be interesting to see what springs to mind, right?
