Getting Back On Track
I’ve strayed so far off track over the last few months it is a bit overwhelming to think about getting back into the routine of writing each and every day.
Lately, I would think about writing, and then freeze. I would think about how long it had been since I’d written and the feeling of failure would hit me. But, I’m choosing to face their fear head on.
Here’s the good news:
When you’ve done like I have and stopped moving forward with a goal, whether it is writing, or exercising, or whatever it may be, you are starting fresh. Don’t think about the fact that you stopped, just focus on the here and now and move forward.
I remember when I first started writing on Medium, the excitement of checking my stats. Throughout the day, it gave me something to look forward to. Each and every fan I got was a moment of success. Specially when that reader was someone who just happened to stumble upon my writing, enjoy it, respond to it, and follow me.
I religiously read a certain number of articles each day and made sure I kept track of every single aspect of Medium on an hourly basis. I’m a numbers person, and seeing which stats increased when I did certain things was exciting to me.
