Normally on July 1st of every year, I look back and reevaluate my yearly goals. I take a look at what I’ve accomplished, and what I’ve failed at. I use my findings to tweak my goals for the rest of the year to try to do better.

That didn’t happen this year.

2020 has taught me a very valuable lesson.

There’s no guarantee on anything.

I knew that, at least on a shallow level. There’s always a chance that something can happen and tomorrow is never guaranteed. That’s a given. But what has opened my eyes is how there’s very little that you honestly can control in your life.

I thought my life was going down one path and due to the pandemic, chaos reigned.

My goals flew out the window and I didn’t look back at them. Priorities shifted from learning different things and trying new things out to, what do we need to do to survive.

The garden was put in, chicken coop was built, and the pantry was stocked. Instead of making decisions based on what goal I was trying to accomplished, decisions were made based on how safe they were and how it could possibly damage my health.

Now, a lot of you might be rolling your eyes, but I am extremely high risk when it comes to respiratory issues so it was a grave concern for us.
