Google Found Me Here

Every day I check my stats several times to see if I’ve gotten any reads. Yes, you read that correctly. My reads are so dismal that any and all are appreciated. Well, at least once a month, Google finds one of my articles and gives me the middle finger.

You know the dreaded middle finger.

For a few days your stats shoot through the roof, rising above the other days as though taunting them. In short, it’s giving your normal reads the middle finger.

Now my stats are completely skewed. I’m not picking up extra member reads, just a ton of extra views.

I know with the way things are now, there’s a possibility that one or two of those people may join Medium and I will be compensated for their read time, but from past experience, I have yet to find this the case.

So now I have to wait for an entire month for that dreaded middle finger to stop flipping me off.

I’d love it if Google found my article and I actually made money from all the reads I got from it. In that case I would look forward to it. I wish I knew the magic formula to get people to sign up for Medium through me, yet that hasn’t happened either.

Oh well. For the next thirty days, I will watch it travel slowly across my screen until it finally drops off.

Dang that middle finger!
