Grateful For The Positive
We have no kitchen.
There’s a room, ripped down to studs, that will eventually house a kitchen, but right now it is filled with tools and brooms and a wire rack filled with random things.
Our refrigerator sits in the very small area that will be a living room. Next to it is a table stock-full with a coffee maker, microwave, instant pot and dry food.
Most of my clothes are still at the old house. The ones I do have here, are on one shelf of a book shelf that we are currently using as a TV stand.
There is no heater or air conditioner.
But, the positives make the chaos so worth it.
We stood outside while our chicken wings sizzled on the bar-b-que lit by work lights. Just me and my husband, listening to birds who refused to go to bed, and coyotes howling in the not-so-far distance.
The simplicity of it all was peaceful. It almost feels as though we are camping out with some modern conveniences. Sure, our son was inside playing video games, but there were no sirens going off, no church parking lot next door filling up.
This is why we moved here. To be surrounded by peace. I can go without a stove/oven. I can go without a huge house to spread out our stuff in.
