I Hate Sweater Weather

When the heat of the summer is bearing down on us, it’s easy to think, “Oh, I can’t wait until things cool down. I can wear sweaters and cuddle up in blankets. I can drink hot cocoa by the fire place.”

Sounds like a dream come true, right?

Not.

For people like me, who love the heat and have to work, this is a period of time we dread. I would love nothing more than to sit in front of a fireplace, cuddled up with a warm blanket and a book, but who has time for that? Between work, chores, and family, my down time is spent freezing cold and shivering despite the heat being on.

During the summer, our nights together would be spent relaxing by a fire outside. That to me is the perfect sweater weather. Even if we don’t have a fire going, we can sit outside and read in the peace and quiet. There’s something about the outdoors that soothes the soul.

Sweater weather can bite me. I don’t like the feeling of being cooped up. It’s way too cold to hang out outside, and when I’m inside there’s way too much to do and too many distractions.

I think it’s a dream come true for people who perhaps don’t work. They can spend the day doing stuff around the house and their evenings and nights cuddled up by the fire.

Maybe one day that will be me. Maybe one day, I will look forward to sweater weather, but not right now! I’m ready for the heat to return!
