Our new property is awesome, and every day I walk it, I know how blessed I am. That being said, I’m internally struggling with something.

We recently found out that there are four plum trees and two massive (8 ft wide) blueberry bushes on our property. That is after my husband gave away two plum trees to our next door neighbor.

When we bought the property, we had no idea that there were any fruit trees on it. We had planned on having to buy any fruit trees that we wanted. To find out that there were already blueberry bushes, a pear tree, huckleberries, a pecan tree, and now plum trees tickles me to death.

What I am struggling with is something that our next door neighbor told me. Let me back up for a minute though.

When he showed us where they were, I can’t even explain how excited I was. Thoughts of being able to harvest a bunch of berries and making a year’s worth of jam has me itching for them to develop and ripen so I can harvest them.

Then he told me how he loves walking by and just picking them and eating them.

The plum trees, the huckleberries, and the two massive blueberry bushes are on our property, but about twenty-five feet away from the street where anyone can walk right up…
