It Takes Money to Make Money

This year I am buckling down and getting serious. I set myself a goal of retiring in 3 years. March 1, 2024, I want to be able to quit my job. That means, as of today, I only have 28 months and 21 days to hit all my goals.

I’ve gone through my finances and figured out how much I will need in order to get through each month. My hope is to save up enough to live off for a year while building up whatever side streams of income I can.

But, as I work on each project, the saying “It takes money to make money” becomes more apparent than ever. Now, I’ve had to set a budget for that as well.

For my writing, I’ve set aside $500 to start. That’s it. I can’t go over that. I’ve watched it trickle away quick. Post office box for a physical address, subscription to website for editing purposes, Medium membership, new ergonomic keyboard and mouse to help with my carpal tunnel, Scrivener…

At this point without a single thing being published, and most of the money already gone, I have really watch what I spend from this point forward. Whatever I make from writing, will be put back into writing for the next year.

Now I’ve got to pay for either Canva or Photoshop. But, after that, I should be good to go for a few months.
