It Was A Chicken Kind Of Day
Today was a great day.
The weather was wonderful and my loving husband went to Home Depot in order to get the last remaining things we needed in order to finish our chicken run.
He was staying in the shed, trying to sleep with nine baby chicks who wake him up throughout the night. They are plenty old enough to be outside, but it took a lot of work to build the chicken run.
Today, they finally got a little taste of freedom.
Once we moved their brooder box into the run, I had to physically climb in there to get them out. We spent hours watching them spread their wings and race back and forth along the run.
They were so adorable chirping back and forth among each other.
During this pandemic, we have created quite a lot of memories that I will never forget, and this day will be one of them.
I will remember how Onyx, our dog, laid in front of the chicken run as though protecting his new flock. I’ll remember my perfectionist husband cutting the boards the wrong length… not once… not twice… but three times within an hour.
