Little Davey Strikes Again
Mrs. Wilcox sat at her desk and glanced over at the clock. With only ten minutes before her students entered the classroom, time was running out. She had a great project for geography, but there was only one problem.
That one problem sat at a table towards the back of the room. Sweet little Davey.
Davey was one of her favorite students. The poor kid was being raised by his grandparents after being abused by his mother and her slew of boyfriends. He’d been born addicted to cocaine and was prone to outbursts.
If there was trouble to get into, Davey found it. Perhaps it found him. Mrs. Wilcox shook her head.
She pictured his mischievous grin when he was getting ready to do something he knew he shouldn’t, but she’d also caught him comforting one of his fellow first-graders on their first day of school.
Deep down, he was a sweet kid. Smart as a whip which tended to get him into trouble. Which was what she needed to avoid today.
The kids were going to cut out a map of the United States, glue it to a paper, color it, and write out the word MAP across the top.
Simple, right?
Not so much when it came to Davey.
