Living Outside The City During Times Of Unrest

It’s been my dream about buying a house with some land. I would have loved to be able to buy forty acres, but I told my husband I would settle for nothing less than five.

Exactly a year ago, we found an abandoned property on five acres that we proudly now call ours.

Now, most likely had we waited another year, we probably could have found one with more land, but everything happens for a reason. We wanted to make sure we bought one before the coming election because we feared what the nation was going to be like depending on who won.

I know it sounds kind of crazy, but given how 2020 has been so far, we are so glad that we did.

When the pandemic hit, we were able to quarantine comfortably.

I couldn’t imagine how restless I would have been had I been stuck in a city, in an apartment, or even a house with a small yard. It was rough not being able to go anywhere, but because of our property we had so many things to do and focus on, the time flew by.

When the protests and riots began, we didn’t have to worry. Our little ‘incorporated area’ is home to about eight hundred people, and it’s a good hour drive to get to the closest city. We didn’t fear the rioters and looters meandering down our street or even be in our neighborhood.
