Making Time For Adventures

One of my best friends is currently taking steps to get out of a toxic marriage. Her exit plan is to come move in with me and my husband until she gets back on her feet. I’ve been pushing her to leave him for a decade now and am so proud of her for finally doing it.

One of the things she has begged her husband for years to do with her is go on mini adventures. She didn’t care if it was just driving around on random roads just to see where they lead, or going down to check out the festival in town. She knows that when the two of us together, we can always find some adventure to go on.

I’ve found the stage of life I’m currently in is pure contentment. I’m happy where I live and my marriage is stronger than ever. My job is stable and pays decently, although I hate having to work.

But, when not pushed, adventure is left behind.

My husband and I don’t go out of our way to go on adventures. We both avoid places that have a lot of people and are so focused on building up a side business that we don’t want to spend a bunch of money doing anything else.

I miss adventure a little bit so I’m preparing to go on some.

To keep my friend motivated, I started saving some money that I call my “adventure fund”. It’s only a few dollars every payday, and that’s okay. It’s been fun to laugh…
