Medium in October

Since it’s the beginning of November, it’s time for the obligatory “How I Did on Medium” post.

Let’s get real.

October for me sucked.

My total for the month was only $14.70.

I would normally be okay with that, except for two things.

1. I only wrote 14 posts.
2. $5.60 of that came from one story that I wrote months ago, and it’s the tail end of it going somewhat viral (for me).

These days I struggle to get up to ten reads a day, and about a third of those aren’t from paying members. The reads I do get paid for are pennies. For example. Yesterday I had 10 reads. I made $.09.

Now, part of the problem was me. The last two weeks I slacked off big time and would go for days in between posting articles. My stats reflected that.

I’ve also made a conscious decision to ONLY write what’s on my mind and in my heart. My strongest pieces are about mental illness and addiction in my friends and family. It’s not something I like to write about, and will only do so when something is bothering me or filling my mind. I’m not going to write about it just to make money.
