My First Foray Into Dictation

I’ve heard stories about how some authors double their word count by using dictation and I wanted to try it out.

There are countless different apps you can use. At the time, I had only heard of Dragon.

I wasn’t about to spend money on a program that I wasn’t sure I was going to use or not, so I chose one of the free apps in my app store.

It’s a simple voice recorder, which you can also choose to transcribe. Since this was all brand new to me, I wanted to simply record, and then do the transcription myself.

I don’t think I could ever get the hang of saying things like open quotes, period, new line. To me, I think that would be way distracting from my story and break up the flow. Perhaps some day I will try it.

I had also heard that being out in nature and active keeps your creativity high, so I grabbed my phone and took a walk. Here’s how it went.
