Sine the beginning of the year, I have seriously slacked when it comes to writing on Medium. I’m not sure what changed. Life was busy and I have no other excuse besides that I got a case of the lazies.

When I was under quarantine, my priorities shifted to other things. Staying healthy and safe and maintaining my family’s mental and emotional well-being was all consuming.

Since then, I’ve struggled to get back into the swing of things.

Then, I got my Medium statement for June.

$7.20

Wow. That’s the lowest I’ve ever made. It gave me the kick in the pants that I needed.

At the beginning of July, I made a vow to make at least $10 from Medium. It’s not much, but I knew that as long as I had a goal to do better than last month, it would get me back in the groove of writing.

No longer do I wake up and watch TV. I don’t come home and immediately want to sit down and relax. Now, I wake up thinking about writing and coming up with story ideas. Throughout the day, on my breaks instead of playing on my phone, I’m reading Medium stories. When I get home, I check my stats for the day and sit down and write.

Ten dollars isn’t much. It’ll buy me a gallon of milk, a loaf of bread and a jar of peanut butter. The point is, having a goal, moving…
