My Medium App Is Great, But…
It Could Be Better
I don’t know who designs and makes decisions on changes that could be made to improve the Medium app, and I have no idea if they will ever read this. I can’t get it out of my head though so I decided to share my frustrations.
I love having the Medium App available for me to use. When I’m standing in line waiting for my turn to pay at the grocery store, I can open up my Medium app and read stories. I get so many stories read each day and have found so many awesome authors because of this app.
I love being able to open my app and start writing a draft as soon as a story idea hits me. Before, I would have to write it in my notepad, and then retype it when I got home to my computer. It is a very handy thing to have at a Medium writer’s fingertips.
BUT……
I get so frustrated lately.
Back when I first started writing here, the way you made money was interactions on your stories. All interactions you received helped. When you got notifications, it meant something. Someone highlighted, someone viewed, someone read, someone clapped; it all mattered.
Not so much any more.
Since Medium changed the way that writers make money, the only thing that counts is the amount of time a person reads.
