Planting For The Future
Recently we bought and planted an orange tree in our new backyard. I was so excited, but people just laughed at me.
“You’re not going to get any fruit for years. What was the rush?”
“You should have spent the money on something that the house needs instead. Why would you waste money on a tree that you won’t get anything from for years?”
In a way, I kind of understood why they might question it, but my response was:
“I’m planting for the future.”
That really got me thinking.
Your entire life, you plant for the future.
Think about it.
You go to school… why? To learn… why? To get a job… why? To earn money…
It goes on and on.
Everything you do affects your future one way or another. Every. Single. Decision.
Over the last five years I’ve decided that I want to make decisions that will only make positive changes for my future.
I saved money while going without many many things. That allowed us to buy a house with the land we wanted.
Now that we have the land, I want to do what I can to make the land as fertile as possible. No, we will not get oranges for at least a few years. But, if I waited a year to…
