Preparing For Another Lockdown
I know the chance of my state going through another lockdown is slim to none, but I’m preparing for that worst-case scenario.
Prepping
Taking lessons from the last time, we keep a two month supply of everything on hand. This means two months worth of food which we replenish as we use, two months worth of paper goods (including toilet paper) but also two months worth of cleaning and sanitizing supplies.
These items are not stashed away for the just-in-case scenario. We use them like normal, and when we do our weekly shopping, we make sure that we replace everything we’ve used.
Not only that, but we have saved money to pay two months worth of bills. My husband works a job that will never be shut down. It’s essential. We are not too concerned about that. Mine though could be closed. How did I prepare for that?
Over the past year, I’ve paid extra on my car so that I am two months ahead of schedule. Every month I stashed some money away so that we have two months worth of paychecks sitting in the bank not to be touched. We have an emergency fund of cash on hand in case there comes a time when cards can’t be used. We have kept our change so that in case of a change shortage we don’t have to worry.
