Preparing For Thanksgiving

Creating a list to avoid that last minute forgotten item

It’s already a week into November and before I know it Thanksgiving will be here. With only three weeks left, and two birthdays in between, I need to prepare ahead of time.

I live in a very rural area. The closest grocery store is a twenty minute drive and none of them will be open on Thanksgiving. That means if I forget anything, I’m out of luck.

Before I even think about grocery shopping, there are other things I need to do.

Clean the kitchen

There’s nothing more frustrating than trying to cook a big meal in a tiny kitchen when the counters are cluttered with things and there’s dishes in the sink that may or may not be needed.

The week before Thanksgiving I need to do a deep clean of my kitchen. The counters need to be completely cleaned off and scrubbed, the oven needs to be go through a cleaning cycle, even the microwave will get a scrub down.

Starting off with a nice clean workspace will make cooking Thanksgiving dinner way less stressful.

Clean out the fridge

Have you ever tried to fit a decent sized turkey into a full fridge? Last year I found myself stacking condiments…
