Preptober — Preparing For Nano
It’s the end of the first week of October, and I’m looking forward to November. I’ve got a lot on my plate for this month, but I need to prepare for NaNoWriMo.
National Novel Writing Month is something I attempt every year. I won the first year I did it, but since then have failed to hit my word count goal. Part of that is because I work in retail, and November is a super crazy month for us.
This year though, my schedule will not be super crazy, and I’m trying it again. This time though, I’m going to prepare.
Novel Idea
I know what I want to work on for November. It’s the second book in my series. The problem with that is I need to finish the first book this month, and I’m only on chapter 9. It’s looking pretty doubtful that I will finish in time to start the new one on the first.
Backup Plan
If I’m not quite at the point of starting the novel, my backup plan is to finish this novel, and either A- start book 2 or B- Write four short stories that will tie into the series. Since my short stories run between 5,000 and 10,000 words each, that should get me to my word count goal.
