Put Meaning Behind Your Purchase
Working in retail during the holidays gives me a different insight into the shopping craze most people go through during November and December.
It never ceases to amaze me how rude and nasty people can get. What I don’t understand is that people go to a mall, knowing that it’s going to be busy. They are going to buy other people gifts, which should be looked at as a generous thing, right?
Wrong.
They show up in throngs, elbowing each other out of the way to get an item that is highly discounted. They’re not necessarily thinking of the person they are buying it for, they’re focused on what a great deal they are about to get. The recipient becomes an after-thought.
Then they get in line and huff and puff because they have to wait their turn. Really? There’s ways around this. How about doing your shopping ahead of time to avoid the crowds? How about shopping online if you don’t want to stand and wait?
They finally get up to the register, and argue with the poor soul standing on the other side. This cashier has slapped on a happy face, and is doing their best to get your items rang up, bagged, and you out of the store as quick as possible, yet half the customers choose to take out their frustration on them.
