Reaching For Goals and Proving People Wrong

My work has been crazy lately and I’ve struggled with disappointment. How am I ever supposed to hit the goals I’ve set for myself when I’m stuck at work or commuting seventy hours a week?

Then my mindset changed. All of this extra overtime is only helping me move quicker towards those goals I’ve set, even though it’s not the way I wanted.

Life doesn’t always cooperate with your plans. The trick is to make it work for you.

Setting Short Term Goals and Long Term Goals

When we first moved to Florida, I set a goal of saving money and buying some land and a house within a year. When I said something to my family about it, I was told not to get my hopes up. My husband just raised an eyebrow at me.

That didn’t deter me though. I saved every penny I could while holding onto my dream.

As the end of that year drew to a close, my husband made a comment that there was no way we’d be able to do it. Not only did we do it, but we did it two months early.

My family was shocked, but extremely happy and supportive of me. I think my biggest supporter (besides my husband) was one of my best friends. She knew what my goals were and what I was saving for. She was so excited for me, she wanted to speed my…
