Returning to Work
Grieving the loss of my time off.
My time off is coming to an end, and I am dreading returning to work.
Trying to prepare any store for a re-opening is nothing less than chaos. There are going to be major changes that will need to be made and we will be put into situations that we never thought we would face.
Not only is there stress about what needs to be done as soon as possible, but there is also stress about safety.
Luckily, the company I work for is taking safety to the extreme which I am eternally grateful. Even before we closed, which was ahead of the different states mandating shutdowns, our corporate offices were on the ball about sending us cleaning supplies and hand sanitizer.
But, there are things that will be out of our control.
Customers.
There’s nothing we can do to make them wear masks, or stay six feet apart from each other. We can not force people to cover their mouths when the cough or sneeze, or stay home if they aren’t feeling good.
As one of those ‘high-risk’ individuals, I have serious concerns about returning to work, but I need to keep my job, so it’s a risk I have to take.
