The Big Medium Change — Day 1

Well day 1 has passed, and the big change on Medium has thrown everyone through a loop. I wasn’t sure how it was going to go for a small fish like me, but I was excited to see what would happen.

For those like me who perhaps don’t post every day, and don’t count on what we make on here, I think it is probably more exciting and less nerve-wracking on those who do.

So, what were my results??

1. First thing I noticed that was a bit frustrating was the notifications. They have been super wonky. I wouldn’t get notifications for hours, then suddenly there they all were. Or, on the other hand, a notification would come through, yet there would be no new reads or claps or anything.
2. A few stories showed reads, but earned $0.00. That was a good reminder to me that not everyone who reads your stories are Medium Members. It was a bit disappointing, but at the same time exciting. Why? Because if those readers become members in the next few weeks, that will be more money that I will earn.
3. Last month I made a whopping $13.89. Not great by any means, but a little more that I can add on to my car payment. What is exciting about the new change is that each day I can see how much I made the day before. It now gives me something to look forward to every morning when I wake up. So, day 1, off of 1 new story and 13…
