The Quiet After The Storm

We live in Florida and over the past couple of months we’ve gone through two hurricanes and a tropical storm.

The first hurricane tore down my brand new greenhouse before I even had a chance to use it. It ripped out a beautiful cedar tree and toppled it on top of our chicken coop, which luckily held the weight.

We’ve learned a lot, going through these storms.

We have learned that our area is the first to lose electricity, and the last to have it restored. It is not enough to keep the generator full. We need to also keep all three five gallon gas cans full because all the gas stations will be out of gas.

We’ve learned that as soon as possible we need to have the two large oak trees that flank our house cut down. They are beautiful and hundreds of years old, but if one falls, our entire house and lives are gone.

But, that’s not all I’ve learned.

There’s a quiet after the storm that is like no other.
