The Suit — Part 2
I rolled back from the desk and stretched my arms above my head. The deadline that had loomed over my head for the past month was no longer a concern. Now it was time to celebrate. The only question was, a dip in the water, or a much needed nap?
The doorbell rang as I headed to the kitchen to grab a bite to eat. When I opened the door, it took me a moment to realize who it was. The suit from yesterday was long gone, replaced with a red tee shirt and swim trunks. I glanced down and saw he wore sandals. The perfectly polished shoes were nowhere to be seen.
He must have noticed since he started wiggling his toes, and I jerked my head back up.
“Hi.” Once again he held out his hand to me smiling. “I’m Jeremy.”
God, I felt like a jerk. I suddenly realized that in my rudeness yesterday, I hadn’t even given him a chance to introduce himself. I smiled and shook his hand. “Nice to meet you, Jeremy. I’m Sarah.”
He gave my hand a little squeeze, but I couldn’t tear my eyes away from his smile. His entire face lit up. As he released my hand, I glanced down and saw a picnic basket sitting at his feet.
“You were right yesterday. I wanted to make a good first impression, but it was the wrong one so I’m hoping my second impression will work better.”
