I will get something done today!

I’ve been suffering from a bad bout of Vertigo for over a week now. After getting two hours of sleep last night on the couch, I dragged myself to the kitchen. Imagine my dismay when I opened the cannisters of coffee to see that there was barely enough to make a single cup. Crankiness took hold of me.

It is so easy to list off excuses as to why you’re not getting something done, but for me, that time is over. No matter what I still have to go to work, right? So I’m applying that to all the other aspects of my life.

I will get something done today.

I tell myself that every time an excuse comes to mind. The days I go to work early I know I won’t get a lot accomplished, but as long as I move forward I’m moving in the right direction.

It’s easy as an outsider to see the excuses and come up with ways around them, but more difficult to do it to yourself. Because of that, I’ve shared my daily goals with an online friend who checks in with me several times a day. Today, for example, I’ll be able to tell her how tired and cranky I am, but I still managed to get a Medium post written. That’s something, right?
