Tomorrow, I wake up and walk through the door of 2024. I have no idea what is going to transpire and that fills me with both excitement and trepidation. Before I do though, I need to look back to see what all has happened over the last year.

The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

The main event that transformed my year was the birth of my grandson. He is the light of our lives and we live and breathe to fulfill his every need. Unfortunately, due to their living conditions, my son, my grandson, and his mother had to move in with us. Talk about a roller coaster!

I got to wake up to a beautiful smiling face. I got so many cuddles and smiles that I wouldn’t have gotten if they didn’t live with us. I got to be there for those teaching moments when these two young parents had no idea what to do.

I also got to pay to feed them and pay for everything my grandson needs. I got to clean up after their messes. I got to get involved in the drama that she brought into our house. I got to drive her numerous times to the mental hospital. I got to comfort my son in my arms while he cried over all the hurt and betrayal. I got to deal with police showing up at our house several times.

But still, through all of the ugly moments, I get to spend more time with my grandson than most…
