What the hell, Medium?
So for the past few months I was earning roughly between $.05 and $.20 per read here on Medium. I was fine with that. At the end of the month, I’d be happy with my $15.00 or so. It wasn’t like I was spending hours upon hours into it, and that $15.00 justified my $5.00 paid membership fee and gave me a little extra.
Then about a week ago everything changed.
I know there are a bunch of spammers out there and Medium is doing its best to deal with that. Accounts are being closed left and right, and I have no issue with that.
What I do have an issue with is the amount I’m being paid for posting stories now.
Since they made these “changes” I am now averaging $.002 per read.
That’s not a typo.
It now takes me about 5 reads to make $.01.
Now, some may argue that not all of them are member reads, but they are. Not only that, but a lot of them are Friends of Medium. Those reads I usually made between $.25 and $.80 off of. Not any more!
I had planned on upgrading my membership at the end of the month. Not any more! If I’m already going to go into the hole each month with my $5 membership fee, why on earth would I pay even more?
