When Life Gets In The Way

It’s the one month a year that I do my very best to be as productive as possible when it comes to my writing.

So, what happens?

Life happens.

Days 1 and 2 went smooth. I got my word count in, was able to squeeze in a bit of editing, and was proud of getting started on the right foot.

Then day 3 hit. I sleep in, and get to work an hour late, which means getting home an hour later than I should have. Then, all hell breaks loose. The elderly neighbor next door has a small heart attack and has to be taken to the hospital by ambulance which left me and my husband to take his wife.

Hours were spent sitting in the hospital waiting room until finally, he’s admitted, and we can all go home.

On the way home we find out our oldest son had a huge fight with the girlfriend and is moving home.

Now, it’s midnight, I haven’t written or edited anything and I’m exhausted and going to bed. Fine, I can make up for one day, right?

Then day 4 comes.

It’s my day off which means I can catch up from yesterday, right?

Nope.

There’s a bloody chicken that has to be caught and separated from all the other girls. Next, we are out of chicken food so we need to go grab that. Oh…
